Dumb question....

It totally IS a learning process! I learn something everyday! I love this site, but I also go DAILY (usually SEVERAL times!) to these other sites.. don't know if you're familiar with them:
Fresh Eggs Daily
My Pet Chicken
Chicken Chat
I Love Keeping Chickens
Those are ALL great sites with awesome info on ANYTHING chicken! Check them out!! Also, you know about that poop board..my husband built me a slide in tray and do you know we've NEVER even used it? All I do every morning is use a cat litter scoop and I scoop out their poop with it, which is ONLY in two areas.. one under each of my girls??!! I put SO much worry into HOW to design that because everyone told me "Ooooh they poop SO much at night".. well honestly, I have yet to see that?? I mean, YES, there's a little pile of poop.. but it's just right on top of my pine shavings and I just scoop it out then turn the shavings some.. That's IT!! SO.. anyways I just thought I'd share that with you. Also, how many and what breed of chickens do you have? I have a Barred Rock named Daisy and an Easter Egger named Olivia and they're 21 weeks old!! I'm sending some pictures!! Best of luck ALWAYS!!

Wow! Great looking birds!! I've researched all year and am getting some Barnvelder chicks next week (using a breeder and, so far, so good in the incubator- due the 9th) I'm planning to raise 4 or 5. Don't think more than six will be comfortable in my coop.) I also like the Speckled Sussex breed ( if I could find them I'd probably do 4 and 2) I will check out those sites, thanks. My husband thinks I spend too much time on this one as it is! Lol.

Thanks! Same to you. It's a learning process, right? Those may be down the first day they get in there! Now to plan and build my "poop board" for under the roosts. an idea I found on here too! Love this site!
I hope in your research here at BYC you learned of PDZ to use in your poop tray...FABulous stuff!!

REALLY?? No you know I must have somehow missed that?? Geez that's weird?? I will have to look that up!! Thank you!!
Here's what I posted several days ago on one of the threads:

In the pic above this, to me, is the ideal roost/poop tray setup. They have used PDZ in the roost tray which, trust me, is the most fabulous stuff EVER and makes your coop smell SO good! You just take a wire strainer and 'sift' the poops, smooth out the PDZ and you're ready to go once again..easy-peasie!

Here is a short video showing just exactly how easy cleanup can be:

Hope this helps you!!

absolutely a must have, although I had originally planned to use pine shavings on the linoleum floor and PDZ only on the board but that's a good video! Thanks for posting it!
