:lau I need to do that next time I make one!
Omg hahahahhahah I love it! Lol don't post that someone is gunna Google that very question and come across your post lol. Also is it kinda wierd that I wish just a little bit that they did that?

My mom did that a couple of times with us as well. It's cooler if they can crack a green shelled egg and then dye it too :)

Had a couple out today to get some week old bantam chicks that were oopses. Admittedly they were immigrants I believe but I think it took me half an hour to explain that the chicks had mixed parentage and that the chicks were for sale not the parents. In the end though the were looking at some of our older chicks until I mentioned the young ones again... I was met with an astounted, "They're for sale?!" They took them all for pets but a little runt that's been in the house for several days since it escaped the run. We still don't know how it escaped.

I'm really really glad that we could find them a good home with people who wanted some little pet chickens.

I was also glad that I took the time to walk them around the flock and show them our different birds and ages. You should have seen the looks on their faces when they saw my Chocolate cuckoo English Orpington cockerals, you'd think they saw Godzilla chewing on whale shark. Lol they thought I wanted to rehome/sell them too but nope no way. Possibly after I grow out some more and choose my breeders but not right now. Lol funny they were so very into the opposite ends of the spectrum... Well almost. With my OEGB and my sebright and then the huge English Orpingtons. Well then again I love and have both so I guess it's not that odd. Lol they're both very loveable.

It's like a cult, I tell ya.  It's like they are completely and totally deaf to all rational thought, which would indicate some brain washing which is going on in every public school, on the TV and in  movies all across this world.

What makes these people feel like they have the right to dictate what this man does on his property and with his own animals, let alone what he feeds his family???

If it were me I'd butcher the cow in the front yard, taking my time and doing it right, letting the whole family participate, invite some friends and have a good old fashioned processing party.  Actually...I've already done that with one of my own cows.....though we didn't quite make it to the front yard we were still in full view of the passing public.

It's b/c people don't think anymore - they've replaced thinking with FEELING! How THEY feel is all important, and logic or reasoning has no place. Look at the media ("if it bleeds, it leads) and politicians, getting everyone emotionally stirred up ("conservatives hate women"). This is what they use to sway people to their own way of thinking. It's effective, too, and catching. The public has been so indoctrinated to feel instead of think, logic has gone the way of the dodo.

Where are we going and why are we in this hand basket?

I went to a group gathering a few nights ago to reconnect with old acquaintances. Somehow, the thought of chickens came up and I was talking about how much I love them, y'know, normal stuff you talk about. Then, the common misconception came up. "I'd love the farm fresh eggs but I don't want a rooster!" I tried to explain that you didn't need roosters to have eggs, but I don't think she heard me as she kept on about it for a moment.

Like I said, it's a common misconception, but it's still kind of funny when it comes up. I used to think the same thing!

You've hit a very valid point. And not only is thought replaced by feeling, but kids are indoctrinated in school (as are so many adults even by the media) into what they are SUPPOSED to feel. I wonder if this is why the divorce rate is so high? When the spouse hit's the mad button a few times, folks tend to bail out.

On a positive note, I work per-diem. My hours have been cut back, cause they've hired a new grad for all of the hours that I was covering. I got a call from a woman who I supply with eggs at that location.
She: "When are you coming in to work again? I need eggs".
Me: I explained that the likelihood of me coming in in the near future was slim.
She: "Oh. Well... could I drive to your house?"
We discussed my home in relation to hers. About 20 miles distant, with place of work being about 30 miles in the opposite direction. Not practical. Though, if she was willing, I'd certainly let her drive to my house. So, we settled on a meeting place between her home and the work site. I'll run my errands to coincide with her work schedule. Gave her 5 dozen eggs this week, and her panic attack was over. People know a good product when they see it, and are willing to go the extra mile to get it. I have been tossing some taste teasers to my regular customers when they buy eggs. This week, she got a couple heads of garlic, and some scapes with ripe bulbils to start her own garlic patch in her garden.
