Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat - Part 2 : Chicken Boogaloo.

I don't remember the exact data but from what I've read truly free range eggs are much much healthier idk about losing weight but they're lower in cholesterol and bad fats higher in omega 3s and 6s and other good fats.
Among a few other things I believe. Basically the healthier and happier and better fed the hen the better quality the eggs are.

You can see it by comparing store bought eggs with fresh eggs particularly from your own hens or from pastured birds. Yes some of the differences come from the age of the eggs such as the consistency of the whites and how high up the yolk stands but also the color of the yolk, which is directly associated with the amount of omega 3s and 6s. Birds on grass have darker yolks.
Yes we have offered to give them some to try. I just got some story about how they had two dozen store bought eggs at home and they didn't want my eggs to go bad in the fridge. They were that days eggs and would have been good in the fridge for 8 weeks or so easily.

My DH2B and I joke and call her one of The Croods(from the movie- favorite of some nephews) "It's new!!!!" So she's suspicious BC the egg might open up and hatch a dinosaur that will eat her. Lol. Okay not really.

There are lots of people around here that sell eggs and we have had some trouble starting up our egg business because of it. In the meantime when we get too many eggs or if they get older they are hard-boiled and fed back to the flock. They love them and it gives them extra protein and the eggs don't go to waste. Sure I would rather sell the eggs to try and offset the feed costs but I'm not going to freak out about it. I know we will make it eventually. For the time being it's worth it knowing our girls are happy and healthy and that we are going to be getting the best eggs and meat we can as we are also raising all of our spare cockerals up for the freezer.

Wow that's very strange :/ though it's a pretty common belief that eggs and ither foods go bad

They typically don't know how to cook and don't want to learn. Might break a nail. My princess friend is one of those. She wanted to make mashed potatoes like mine, then complained that they were "watery".  "You *did* drain them after cooking didn't you?". "Why no. You didn't tell me to." This is a wife and mother in her 50's. She also "nukes" English muffins and cooks filet mignon (the only steak she likes) in the toaster oven.

You are absolutely right and sorry for continuing the argument, even if I was trying to end it.

I think we need to get back on the topic at hand.

Anyways, I've got baby bunnies! And my broody hen's eggs all died, so I gave her a fresh batch. Fingers and toes crossed for meat to fill the freezer and chick sales in the near future.

Ahh what kind!? Bunnies are so cute! I forget if you're on the farm photography thread? If not, you should join haha and awww that's sad about her babies. What happened? Hope the new ones hatch

The bunnies are New Zealand/California crosses. As for the broody eggs, the first week I set them, the young pullets 'played' with them while momma was having breakfast, and then we had a heat wave of about 96* Friday. The hen just didn't want to go back to her eggs it was so warm. She was off them for about 4 hours.
