Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat - Part 2 : Chicken Boogaloo.

Pics

I had a lady who was interested in buying some of  my eggs.   Wanted to know if they were free range , what they were eating    BUT  they also had to be vegitarian chickens NO eating of bugs and such.     I told her that I was sorry but I could not quarentee  that and to please let me know if she should ever find such a thing.      AND THESE PEOPLE  BREED AND VOTE

Well, she could buy the "free range" eggs in the grocery store: I'm pretty darn sure they've never even seen a bug or worm in the big chicken houses with one small door leading to a small, naked fenced in area that the chickens can't get to. But, they're labeled "free range", so they MUST be. You can find them labeled "organic", too. Better, yet, send her to me. I'll sell her some eggs for $25 a dozen and give her a guarantee that they've never eaten a bug or worm. (I mean, how does one go about disproving that claim?)

If she's such a strict vegetarian, what's she doing eating food that comes from an animal (eggs)? People really are silly. They contradict themselves all the time and don't even realize it. But, I love that moment when I help them to realize it: the look on their faces is priceless.
Technically, eating eggs would be like eating meat, too. I mean, what's a vegan doing eating eggs?

Uh ... that was my point: a strict vegetarian doesn't eat animal products, including dairy. Although no one mentioned vegan, it's basically what a vegan is, except they don't use anything made from animal products, including leather.

Wouldn't eggs have to be incubated to be considered meat?
Eggs aren't chickens..
Do vegetarians drink milk?

There are various kinds of "tarians". Some vegetarians eat dairy and eggs: they are called ovo-lacto vegetarians. Others don't eat eggs, but eat dairy products: lacto-vegetarians. Some vegetarians eat fish but not the flesh of warm blooded animals: they are called pescetarians. Fruitarians only eat plant products that aren't picked, but are dropped, like apples. Then, there are vegans who, as mentioned above, use NO animal products. Now, they've come up with a new term: flexitarian. They eat meat, but not all the time, deliberately avoiding meat many days. That's me.

The "tarians" are people who make a conscious choice about their diets. But, others consume a particular diet because that's the way the organism was designed: they take on the suffix "vores", as in carnivores (eats meat - cats, dogs), herbivores (eats only plants), and omnivores (eats everything - humans). But, some are more specialized like ruminants (vegetarians that have several stomachs and regurgitate food [such as grass] and chew it as "cud" - like cows).

And, there you have the extent of my knowledge of dietary terms.

I must correct myself - I was distracted by people in my office.

Ruminants are not vegetarians, they are herbivores. Duh
