Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat - Part 2 : Chicken Boogaloo.

I imagine that eating those things will eventually remove that genetic material from the population...at least, that's the way it should go, but it doesn't seem to be working that way.

I've offered eggs to many people, and MOST of them have declined, as they prefer store bought eggs. I don't know why that is. The ones I have shared eggs with are always impressed and want more.
Crazy question I was asked yesterday:
"How many eggs does the rooster lay?"
:hmm

This is all sooooo funny. I offered a friend some fresh eggs - she said unless they're white and in a carton from Walmart she won't eat them! Lol. Somehow I think my fresh eggs are better.

It's called allowing oneself to be brainwashed by the marketing ghouls. Like sheep to the slaughter, they just happily frolic and play, ignoring all the warning signs, all the way to the packing house. In other words, people believe what they want to believe; that which doesn't rock their complacent little worlds.

Can't fix it, so don't frustrate yourself by trying.

Lol well firstly love the name Castiel for a silkie! Secondly had the Cornish cross conversation with a friend the other day. As we're thinking of culling a rooster that is mulling over the idea of attacking us. Don't kill him, I like him.
Now she's not as dumb as she comes across just like most people doesn't know or chooses not to think about the lives of meat/production birds. Well where do you think the chicken comes from? If he comes at us he's gone idc.

But he's not very old...
I admit I interrupted, he has had a much longer and better life than store bought chicken. Do you know that those birds are usually less than nine weeks when they're slaughtered? They still peep like chicks when they die. Think about that.

There was just stunned silence. I know that was my response when I first read and realized that too. Like when I saw a man purchasing two Cornish game hens last week, let me tell you those bagged frozen birds were each smaller than a tennis ball. I'm sorry I know its their purpose its what they're bred for but it just makes me sad. Yeah I'm a sap. But that's just a baby and I think there's something wrong with people not knowing that.

Then I guess I'm a sap, too. The thought tears me up. But, when my birds are too old to lay much, I take them somewhere to have them processed for me, as I haven't got the heart. By then, they're pretty tough but, rather than let them to die of old age while they eat organic feed ($$), I'd rather them serve another use. They make good soup, and the meat can be used in casseroles, feeding me for about a week. That knowledge makes me feel better because wastefulness and wasted lives disturb me, too.
