I thinks saying she was a vegetarian was just an excuse not to eat the food I was offering. It is still incredibly stupid though.

LOL...reminds me of something my 5 yr old son asked the other day. "Mom, what does corn come from" (He's used to seeing eggs come from chickens) "It grows on plants like tomatoes do Bubby." "Ohhhhh, ok (big grin)"Sometimes people just don't think.
We raise meat animals on our property from time to time. Chickens, ducks, sheep, pigs... And when my friend found out about this, she was very shocked and sad. She said "How can you just kill them? That's so sad!"
Now, she's not a vegan or a vegetarian even, so I was confused. I asked her, "What do you mean it's sad? Don't you eat meat?"
Her response was, "Well yes, but I don't know those animals!"
So then I'm thinking, "Okay so you're just being willfully ignorant so you can eat meat and not feel bad. Someone somewhere knows those animals. If anything you should want to know where your meat comes from. I feel much better when I raise and butcher my own meat because I know what goes into my meat, that they didn't suffer, and I know all of my animals had awesome lives before they died."
I feel like it's entirely too common for people to distance themselves from what they eat. Like meat just grows on trees somewhere.

Wow ignorant on so many different levels, I would assume you are an "English" (what Amish call us regular Americans) I want to show that person what Amish dress and customs are they would probably need a change of clothing from soiling themselves and throwing up over slaughtering day and such.....
?????? commenting on hunting not diet..........
