Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat

my parents were watching my chickens earlier with me and my mom asked "why do we have the roosters? they don't lay eggs so what do they do?"
and my dad said "well their there to fertilize the eggs, so you can have baby chickens"
and my mom said "but they don't DO anything to help make the babies"
and I said "no they mate the hens so the eggs they lay are fertile and can be hatched"
and my mom said "chickens don't have s3x!"
and I said "the term is mate but yes they do"
and my mom said "no they dont! if they do then tell me how"
awkward moment where I try to discribe how chickens mate and my mom still doesn't believe that chickens mate... I don't understand how both my mom and dad don't know that animals mate when both of them had-were near chickens growing up.
I think I would have had to say "I don't know, I don't look under their covers!" and then just let them try to figure that out.

Ok, so we just went out to breakfast, and while i was in the restroom, my grandpa ordered for me. I didnt know this utill i sat back down. When all of us got our food, i ended up with eggs and pancakes. I didnt DARE touch the eggs. that made my grandpa mad saying how ungrateful i am. I just sat there and told(I know respect your elders, which i do, but this situation called for something else...) my grandpa, "You shouldnt have ordered for me! And YOU KNOW I only eat eggs and meat from my own home!!!" I just wont eat anything that I dont grow, raise or slaughter my self! He should have figured that out when i was 9 and overweigt and now Im 14 and well muscled and healthy! I made the switch in 5th grade, and he knew! UGH!!!!!! Why is my family so difficult!

Sorry Gomes Bantams, thats what families do. Suck it up and move on. Don't stay mad at him, maybe someday he'll get it, maybe not. I've been a vegetarian for more that 15 years and my aunt still tries to give me food with meat in it. She says things like, "Oh, it's just a little bacon for flavor."

I've gotten to where I think it's kind of funny, because I know she's going to try to hide meat in something, and feed it to me.

You don't want to know my family, your grandfather sounds like a saint compared to the people I share DNA with. If it wasn't me looking like my father I'd swear I was switched at birth, really....

If I leave my door cracked my studio is quickly filled with chickens. I LOVE IT!!!!!

reminds me of the line in the movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding", when Aunt Voula (sp) says "What you mean, he don't eat no meat?!?! oh well, thats' OK, I make lamb..."

Not about chickens but:

My good friend's mom really really wants to grow everything for themselves, raising their own meat, etc. Well, guess where their chickens are? At my house because they kept forgetting to feed them! So, they thought maybe a milk cow would be easier. So they got a Black Angus bucket calf from her step-dad's cousin. So, my friend was proudly showing me her "cow". I then informed her that it was a bull calf. She says, "Oh, so that's why we haven't gotten any milk!" Umm, I hope you didn't try to milk it, because not only is it a bull, but it is also only a few weeks old.. Her mom didn't believe me though, and they kept it. She also refused to castrate it. How to you not realize, from the moment you caught it in the pasture that it was a bull?!?!? It's really not that hard to figure it out!!!!! So, they're still waiting for fresh milk. :he
