Commenting on the Deer Crossing audio call to the radio station posted earlier. That was really funny, nothing to do with chickens but funny anyway. God must really love stupid people - He sure made a lot of us!

since i have had chickens i have been spending more time in the back yard! the last month i have noticed Crows in the trees above the Hens and today i see that the Crows like the Chickens!!! a dang hawk was flying around the back yard and the Crows began attacking the hawk!!! i watched for 5 minutes or so as the crows just kept beating the Hawk up... That will teach the ole Hawk to mess with our Chickens... LOL

serious though i have not seen the hawk since... lets hope it remains that way :)

Nosy Neighbor is at it again... told me I can't bring the bantam in the house during the hurricane because she'll die if she's kept inside

As opposed to weathering hurricane force winds, falling trees, flying detritus, and pounding rains outside? <sheesh> Consider the source, smile and say, "Thanks for the *expert* advice", then walk away shaking your head (so she can see you).

Ya crows like chickens, like to eat 'em. When I was a kid I had an uncle that had his chicken yard maybe a hundred yards from the house in remote northern ca. When a murder of crows saw there chance they'd come in and kill one and leave a sentry posted in a big cedar tree watching for a .22 out the window. They will harass a hawk any chance they get too.

that is good insight!!! now i will be on the look out for crows if they are mean to my Chicks!!! But the crows definatly took care of the hawk problem yesterday

I would love to know how to get rid of my hawk problem. I have 2 red tailed hawks that now know my chickens live here and circle my property looking for an easy meal. I now only let them out when I'm with them. It's frustrating since I don't like to stand out in the cold for very long.
