Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat

Well we have not heard anything to crazy stupid but we have a neighbor who insists we need to have all the same type of chickens or we will not get eggs. We have over 30 chickens and we have a mix of between 2 of one kind and 4 of another..... We bought a mix because we like the different birds. Anyway she insists they will not lay eggs unless all the birds look alike. She says "Seeing different types of chickens scares them!" This was in response to her asking about our 3 week old chicks "Are they laying yet" we replied "Not yet." "well you know they are all diffrent kinds of chickens so they wont lay because........"

Wow!! Racist chikens?!?

Coworker wanted eggs and asked me to bring in a dozen. I did. She was hesitant to pay me the $2 when I said the bigger ones were probably double yolkers ( A couple hens lay them frequently...COOL!). She felt that they were an unhealthy mutation. All I could do was blink at her.

A co-worker wanted to see my chickens and other animals. So one lunch break I took her to see them. She got to see a chicken lay an egg. She was totally amazed and loved the visit. Well I would take a weekly order for eggs into work. Well I noticed that the woman (54yo) that I took for the visit didn't have her usual order. So I asked her if she forgot or if she just didn't need the eggs this week. Her response was "No thanks. I'm going to get my eggs from the store from now on." I asked her why. Her response was,
"I can't get eggs from you anymore because I know where your eggs come from."

I was talking with a coworker about how we need to worry about eating safer and about our alimentary security in case of a natural disaster and she told me she knows what to do in a emergency...go to my house to get fresh eggs and food from my garden!!!! I was shocked and almost angry because she looked serious about it.

1st: Ask your co-worker why you'd allow them to do that.
2nd: Inform them that you have a gun and, should such a disaster occur, you'll be guarding your food supply with it. (lie, if you have to)
3rd: Now tell them that rather than assume you'll just help yourself to someone else's resources, you've taken responsibility for your own survival. They should try doing the same.

Probably voted for Obama.

Reminds me of the maintenance man here at work who thought he'd just help himself to *my* coffee pot every day. When I suggested he make his own, he snapped, "Why should I?". I said, "For the same reason I do: because you want to drink coffee in the morning." He isn't making his own, but he's not stealing mine, either.

Good. Thanks to her eating habits, the herd will continue to thin out.

All I can say is I'm not humming and saying the presidents name like we saw little kids do 4 years ago.........

Tell her they are more healthy because they are not mutated but from a hen that is a step higher on the eveolutionary ladder than her store bought eggs......

I know this isn't the right place to post this, but if you know a lot about Barred Rocks and Cuckoo Marans, please go to my profile and click in my thread, "Is Lacey a Cuckoo Maran???!!!"

Thanks!!!
