Hahahah! Lol parrot that's a new one! It is so cool that you have owls! I love owls!!! It would be incredible to do falconry, seeing all those beautiful birds. I will have to see if there are any youth clubs in my area. What kind of owls do you have? Your profile picture looks like a saw whet, but I'm no expert. Is that your owl? Its really pretty.
Yes they are saw whet owls, and yes, that is Esmeralda, one of the second generations.

She's almost 9 and her food is gluten free, no corn or bi products. She does have a sensitive tummy ( hence the special food) n shes not on any meds unless she got into the trash or something. But gee whiz, this is like chemical warfare! Lol

Have you tried Beano? I'm serious. It might help, but first ask the vet if it's ok to give to a dog.

The only reason I don't give my girls orange peels is because someone told me not to. Lol. I have no real data on it but I err on the side of caution since I'm so new at this and plus if there was ever going to be a sick or dying chicken cuz of citrus, w/ my luck it would be mine!! It's just the way my luck goes lmao

We have an old orange tree in our backyard and I was looking forward to allowing our future flock to eat the fallen fruit...my sister is an avian vet from FL and she's flying into town tonight, I can't wait to find out her take on the issue...I'll let u all know!!

Yes please do, if anyone will know she will. I'd love to give mine a lil citrus in the summer just for enjoyment n the vitamins. A friend of mine who has had chickens for yrs told me no citrus or onions. Onions will slightly change egg flavor but the citrus is supposedly bad?? I dunno, I'm confused. Lol. I'll be awaiting her professional opinion for sure n Ty so much for addressing this question. ;-)

No, she's on insanely expensive food n has been for yrs. but geeeez, this is getting crazy cuz she's my shadow n I'm starting to regret that she follows me everywhere. Gag! Lol
Well that's a reversal. Instead of you saying it's the dog, you're poodl'e probably blaming you.

We have a Macintosh apple tree in our back yard and our chickens love it when there are some that fall on the ground and are too bruised for us to use. My wife goes out and busts them up, and the chickens jump right in her way in their excitement.

I'm sure it's just the taste for onions, my father was raised on a dairy farm and he told me the cow's milk would smell and taste slightly of onions in the spring when turned out on fresh grass of the spring because there was so much wild onion they enjoyed eating, plus all the fresh greens made the cows get a form of dysentery.... temporary but nasty still....

So the sulfur in onions, make them taste, more....like sulfur, isn't that what eggs taste like

LOL, just saying! I can see where it would change milk though

I feed my girls onion scraps all the time, no change I can tell, however, I don't feed them just onions....
