Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat

We are half way there. We have a large 50+ acre piece of property to start our "back to basics" living style, where we can raise chickens, have a garden, and live as efficiently as possible.
We just purchased this property complete with a rustic cabin. We moved chickens there only to find out that we are not allowed to raise any type of farm animals, and all buildings must have prior township permission.
We have been fighting ordinance officers for "violating ordinances" since August, and we just got the property in May!
I guess this is the theme of the thread... Dumb things people say about chickens/eggs/meat...
DUMBEST thing people can say... "You can't have chickens on your own private property on 50+ acres"
Darn, That sucks! I only have three acres but we too are restricted in regard to any type of building. Think we can get around it by having them on wheels???? like a trailer only rustic heheheheh. No laws on caravans/trailers I think. I would have thought that it would have been in the print prior to the purchase what you could and couldn't do?

I hear about stuff like that all the time, and it really grates my cheese. I understand certain limitations on what you can do on a piece of property--no toxic waste dumps, no poison gas factories, stuff like that--but ordinances really overstep their boundaries more often than not. I recently read about a family in the UK who built a house from scratch using only natural, locally-sourced materials, and after it was built they were told it would be torn down because it was "damaging to the countryside". I wonder which is more damaging--the house which was built to have as small of a footprint as possible, or the act of bulldozing it down with massive, heavy equipment? It really infuriates me.

I've pretty much put down roots now, but if I was ever going to purchase property or move elsewhere, I'd want to research it thoroughly... Nothing worse to me than being told what I can and can't do on my own land!

Wow that's so stupid. People don't realize what happens in chicken factories and how they process eggs... I'd rather know where my meat and eggs come from instead of some factory farm! My backyard is where I trust!

My neighbor tells people that the blue eggs are "rooster eggs". Cracks me up- he says he is amazed by how many people fall for it.

OMG, I was telling a lady at work the other day that I'll be getting chickens this summer and plan to have lots and lots of eggs.  I told her I'd bring some in for her so that she can taste how much better they are.

Know what she said?

Her: "Oh my GAWD, eeeeeewwwwww, I could never eat those eggs!"

Me: "Ummmm, why not?

Her: "Well, BECAUSE, they came out of a chicken's butt!"

Me: "Ummmmm.  Huh?  You eat eggs from the store, right?"

Her: "Well, yeah, of COURSE, but that's different!"

Me: "How is that different?  Those eggs also came out of a chicken."

Her: "But those are all sanitary and come in a box."

Me: "I'll wash my eggs and box them for you too."

Her: "Blech, no way.  I could never eat eggs from your chickens.  That's just gross."

Me: "***?"

[Erica walks away shaking head]
