Oh, want a whacked out one? We have a friend who believes that humans and sheep can cross breed.

Quote: I did ask her. She told me that the offspring always dies in the womb or at birth and the government confiscates the bodies. I even asked her where she heard this. She said one of her teachers in school told her. This woman is almost 50.

I tried to explain that even goats, which are much more closely related to sheep, can only extremely rarely cross with sheep.

We had an argument over fertile mules once. Even showing her in black and white she wouldn't believe that female mules are very rarely fertile.

My ex-husband thought that the moon didn't rotate on it's axis because we always see the same side. Even using balls to demonstrate didn't help.

When I read something entirely either : confusing, disturbing, or **** stupid, I quickly and loudly suck in my breath.

And in that case, it sounded like I was taking my last breath... geez. Anyone with a 6th grade education should know that animals in different genus's cannot crossbreed. I think. You know, actually I don't think I was ever taught that in school.

Most of my logic doesn't even come from school, sadly.

Oh school systems. So my friend was homeschooled last year, and I like to learn outside of school because most of what I learn in school is a grand total of useless. Ironic (well not for me, but for others), isn't it, that the two people in the school who attempt to give themselves educations outside of school are the ones who did the best on our ACT Explore?

I don't know, I think that the problem is that school teaches us some stuff that's relevant to our exams, but our parents are supposed to teach us stuff, and we're supposed to learn for ourselves and be intelligent enough to make inferences, and it seems that people come out of school with the bare minimum from their lessons, they only know what they've been taught. I used to watch a lot of wildlife documentaries, and I still come out with facts about different animals all the time, and people would say "Where do you get this stuff?" and I say "from TV" and they're gobsmacked, how can someone learn from TV? TV is all soap operas and dramas isn't it? Wrong. They make no effort to learn anything other than what they're taught.

I once met a woman who did not believe ducks and geese were birds, and nothing would convince her otherwise. I never asked her about chickens. This woman was studying avian biology no less. I have no idea if she ever graduated.

You might point out to the woman that when a mule foals, it is a rare enough event it makes front page news. Several years ago a mule gave birth and they named the baby Blue Moon. I thought that was fitting.

So my mil who mind you owns chickens comes over I am showing her my flock
Mil. "what is that chicken?
Me she is a dark Brahma hen
Mil why do you call them hens
Me because it is a girl
Mil girls are called chickens
Me (looks at her dumbfounded )

I mean really she has had chickens for years

Ya know what's pretty bad?!?
When I have to look up some of these terms online because I could never imagine an act like that could exist. It wouldn't be the first time either...
