today, at work, one of my stops was at a really nice farm with a bed and breakfast. while taking care of business with the owner, a peacock strolled through the yard, gorgeous bird, with one left over feather that had yet to drop that was a full 2 feet longer than the new feathers. a guest, also strolling through, asked the owner why she didn't just step on that one feather and make the bird pull it out (... basically out of fear of being captured), the bird would run wouldn't it...? we just looked at each other... face/palm. OW! lemme yank on your hair lady!

Today I was talking with someone and she brought up that her neighbor has chickens. She told me "Do you know they will eat frogs?" (in a shocked voice) I said, yup - and mice, snakes and anything else they can catch. (she was even more shocked then)


I've also had a friend refuse to eat my eggs because they come from a chickens butt. She didn't have much to say when I told her the ones from the store come from a chickens butt too.

I about died laughing in the city when some people were amazed by wild turkeys and one of them said that they can't fly. I said wanna bet? (and this was LONG before I ever had chickens)

Ha, I've seen a wild turkey fly over from the road over an entire wheat field, but whatever the city slickers say must be true!
