Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat

A friend of mine comes over occasionally and won't get out of her car until I put up the chix. She was traumatized once when she was getting out of her car, they thought she was me and wanted to go for a ride. She got out and ran to my steps, and of course they thought "oooh...She's getting treats!" So they continue to chase after her and she's screaming at my back door while the entire flock of 20 gathers around her begging for something to eat. I couldn't even help her because I was doubled over trying not to pee myself laughing at her.

My dad got it for me for Christmas a couple years ago.

yeah i tried going vegan and it landed me in the doctor's office one month with no meat and i had the red blood cell count of someone with leukemia i don't mind paying the extra buck for grass feed and pasture raised meat it's better for you then trying to live on fruits and veggies alone
Lots and lots of people are just fine on a vegan or vegetarian diet. You just have to do it correctly which you obviously were not! Vegetarians that stick to a balanced plant based diet do live longer and have a lower rate of heart attacks, strokes, and cancer than vegetarians that don't eat a balanced diet and people who eat any kind of animal product.

The matriarch of one of the old families up here sold off 10 acres of land, which was made into a street with 5, soon to be 6 (and the last) house on it. It's my street, straight as an arrow, 4 houses long, and it dead ends at the creek. The locals up here refer to this as a "subdivision".

Bless their hearts.
sorry, multi quote isn't cooperating!

That is a very crowded subdivision.....the horrors of having to live in such a crowded neighborhood...

Here is what I came on here to post originally: My neighbors that moved in a few months ago told me today my tom turkey is "very aggressive." I had gone over to ask their 7 year old to stop gobbling at him since he had been doing it for a solid hour. Of course that is making him display and puff, stomp his feet and gobble back (the turkey, not the kid).

As the guy before me said some people can go vegan and some people can't i just couldn't afford to eat the proper "balanced" vegan diet so i save up for a year and buy a years worth of grass and pasture raised fed beef, chicken etc and it has done me well so far. But i wasn't knocking vegans so don't shoot the messenger

I didn't think you were knocking vegetarians and I think my response may have been unintentionally rude. If someone wants to be a vegetarian they have to work at it just like you work towards your purchase of meat. Our pediatrition wants to test the iron levels of my kids every time they go for a annual checkup. They always have good iron, "better than anyone I have seen all year." But I plan meals, look at nutrients needed vs. eaten over the course of a week, and we do eat eggs, drink cow milk, and sometimes eat chicken or beef.
lol's i named my two bantams hellion and Watson hellion is my rude rooster that will not stop attacking my hen and Watson is my hen who is too prim and proper to eat bugs

I have a cockeral named peckerwood. My 12 year old named him, but I didn't argue.

I won't get into the middle of the meat/no meat discussion. That said, I always admire someone who posts, reads the responses, and has the class to recognize that they may have been mistaken, misunderstood, or rude, unintentionally or otherwise. The respect for others you showed speaks volumes about you as a person. Kudos to you, jc! I hope that on those occasions when I've inserted my foot in my mouth, I've had the courage to put a little salt on it and swallow it down.

I have no problem with people who are vegan, or vegetarian. I personally cannot be on such a diet, simply because I have battled lifelong anemia. I also can't give blood because of it. I believe that everyone, myself included, should allow others to live their lives. As long as it doesn't infringe upon anyone else's rights or life, what does it matter?
