You can't be on a chicken forum discussing Seinfeld and not take a look at "Little Jerry Seinfeld"! This is what happened when Kramer bought a chicken...

How funny..Never watched Seinfeld…now I may regret it.

Love Kramer, didn't know that's where he came from.

I had this picture shared with me today.

Hoo-boy.Some people have never met a dictionary. Introduce them to Miriam Webster:

Yeah, I was overdue for some time off, so I took three weeks off to get away from the lazy clowns at work and the crazy church folks where I play organ every Sunday. My cell phone has been turned off the whole time and did leave the house on occasion to do some shopping...spent over $800 on lumber to build two decks, a run and chicken coop. It's still piled up out in the garage. Even bought more power tools to play with. I do some great planning, but the execution is another thing.

Maybe I'm just getting old and grumpy and my tolerance level is at an all time low, but I can't stand to be around people and stupidy anymore. I just wanna be left alone. Neighbors think I've sold the house and moved because they never see me, but I manage to make an occasional appearance.

I've got some great plans....have a look see. A 16 x 16 L-shaped chicken run with a "Chicken TV" observation deck with a privacy wall and hedges planted behind it. The whole thing, including top, will be inclosed with 1/4" hardware cloth so I won't be feeding the wild birds in the neighborhood. The coop is constantly in the redesigning stage right now, but will be 6 x 6 with external nest boxes.

One of the dumbest things I have heard was that "chickens are dirty and nasty". Well, after looking at some of these sad hoarder shows on TV, I beg to differ. If you take on any kind of critter, whether it be for pets and/or livestock, upkeep and maintenance is required.

Pigs roll in mud for a reason, chickens and other birds dustbathe and preen themselves and splash in water for a reason. It's okay to see a wild elephant or hippo taking mud baths and wild birds splashing at the river edge, but it seems like our domesticated animals get a bad rap as far as cleanliness goes, and I put that blame on the owners who neglect them. These animals did not choose to become domesticated, but since they have, then we as owners are charged to maintain their health and welfare under our care.

Sorry for the soap box and going off-topic, but I guess you can't fix stupid, even with a 2x4. Which reminds me of the old term "Blanket Party" back in the day. You simply knock the idiot down on the ground, throw a blanket over them, then beat the crap out of them with some bats or what ever was handy . The blanket served to keep all the beaters anonymous. --BB

Hope your weather is better than most right now, would hate to have to build outside with winter moving in. Yes, I'm in Georgia, but i'm such a wimp when it comes to outdoor projects in the cold.

It makes me so mad when people, especially those who have had chickens, talk about how nasty and dirty they are. I'll admit they don't mind walking thru fresh poop….but I loved to do it too when I was a child..

Most fun barefooted.

But an odd thing is some of those folks not only don't keep the chicken coop clean, but don't bathe infrequently and don't own a toothbrush !

Your plans look great.
