I recall a few years ago I was at a Livestock/public thing... and some kid pointed to my Jersey Giant and said "Is that a turkey!?"

Oh how hard it is was not to laugh.

Wow, I expect that about Naked Necks, but a Jersey Giant?!?!?!?!

(BTW I love Jersey Giants! My Maybell is so sweet, and best friends with my Faverolle.

I was gone for for 2 nights with my cousins for a wedding, and we each guessed how many eggs i would have because my chicken start laying an hour before we left!!!! 5 year old- "I bet FIVE eggs!" 9 year old- "I bet 2." 11 year old- "i bet 3!" me-"I bet 1." blank looks. "1? That's not alot." 9 year old. me " well, they have to get the hang of it." blank stares. "Kinda like with baseball. you can't hit homeruns right away. you have to practice. "oh..."

That is very true.

When you go to shows or fairs you always have to be prepared to reply a good answer.

Though when a 4 year old boy doesn't speak English and is trying to take the rooster out of your hands yelling "Papa! Papa!"... heh, that was the first time I dealt with that.

Chickens.....In Raritan nj, in your backyard!!?? Is that even allowed?? Chickens are dirty and smell!! They will wreck all your beautiful gardens. Gross they smell and carry so many illnesses you will be sick!! LOL Really people?? Its a wonder people eat eggs at all!!

I went to a show in Feb just this year. And there was a Modern Game cock with a egg in his pen, there was no pullet/hen in there earlier either

One of my friend's little sister was in the poultry/rabbit barn (that's how small our fair is) taking care of her rabbits and found a bantam egg. She was literally cradling it for 2 hours, because she didn't want it to break. Her mom told her to give it back to me, but she REALLY didn't want to let it go. I told her she could have it, and she was so excited. It was so cute, she showed it to everybody at the fair...
