Dumped duck - help?

:welcome

Hi, good idea from @LTAY1946...here's a link to the state threads: Find Your State's or Your Country's Thread. Also, are there any rescue organizations in your area that could maybe help? Pretty boy, hope you can find him a home.
So far I contacted wildlife rehabbers and centers, thinking that he was a wild duck, but they all turned me down. I'll start looking for sanctuaries who will take in a domesticated animal in need. Thank you for the link!

Hello, I'm a new member and was referred by some posters on reddit.

Construction is going on at a pond near me (Dallas/FW area) and the duck in the picture is likely a dumped domesticated duck (so I was told). He can't fly and I have been bringing him clean water and food for the past three months.

Can anyone advise me on how to find him a home? I am rather new to the area and will soon move to a different state so I can't adopt him myself, although I'd love to.

Thank you!

Welcome to BYC!! Good luck with you duck! :)

@ruthhope
Is this close to you ?
If not maybe you have more ideas to help them
Alas no, Texas is a thousand Mike's away!!! He's a gorgeous boy, I woukd take him in a flash if I were near.

Some local chapters of the Humane Society and branches of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals arrange adoptions for ducks, so its worth checking them out. Local duck groups on social media including NextDoor and Facebook may be able to help. There are national and even international duck rescue and duck health groups, with members including duck sanctuaries, on Fb that could help. I am not allowed to mention them here, so the original poster will have to search using key words to find them. The latter are a good bet if the local Humane Society and SPCA can't help

Thank you for the info! I'll look into the options you mentioned.
