Investigating Duplicate Posts

Hey everyone, we have reviewed the previous list of improvements and suggestions submitted by you all and changed/added things as best we could. Now, the good news is we'd like to start a fresh list and get even more ideas from you on how we can improve the forum and your experiences using it!

Please reply to this thread with your ideas on things we can improve to make BYC an even better place to visit and hang around. Please be as specific as possible, and if it's a suggestion that's been made in another thread, please link to the thread so we can continue to flesh-out the ideas / specifics in that thread. (We'd rather avoid discussing each individual suggestion in this thread)

As the ideas come in, please "LIKE" thumbs/up posts that have ideas that you think are the best suggestions and you agree should be added. (The sooner you get your suggestion added, the more likes it will probably get ).

So, let's hear your ideas!

Biggest thing that comes to mind is fixing whatever is causing posts to repeat themselves, more than once sometimes. If I don't catch them first, a mod sometimes deletes one. Never happened in the old format.

We need to be able to duplicate this, so anybody having this issue, please reply with answers to the following:

• Are you making sure to only hit the "submit" button one time... even when it seems like it didn't work / submit the first time?
• Are you on a computer, tablet, phone.
• If phone / mobile, which model? If computer, which operating system and version?
• Which browser and version are you using (eg., Chrome 58.0.3029, Firefox 3.5.9, Internet Explorer 8, etc.)
• Have you tested a different browser (this helps us isolate if the problem is browser related or not)?
• What EXACTLY did you do? Document the steps you took before having the problem.

Just hit the reply key. Sometimes there are two, sometimes six. Not repeatable.

I did report one once and asked that it be forwarded to you.

Also, when did the problem start and how often does it happen?

Any consistency around when it does/doesn't happen?

I've never had it happen. I'm using Firefox 60.0.1 (64-bit) on a Windows 10 desktop computer.

Knowing the info above (when it happens, browser, device, etc.) will help us try to duplicate / find the problem.

I just found a couple of screenshots:
This is from june 24 2018 at 7:19 pm and there were at least six of them. I think this is one that I reported with an "attn nifty"

Ok, thanks! So, that's about when it started, and it's still happening? How often? Which browser? Does it happen in other browsers too?

As other members experience this, please reply here with details (when it started, how often, browser, version, etc.)

Edited to add:
The posts were numbered 17, 18, 17, 18. Two are gone now, so it's just 17 and 18. Sorry, could not get a screenshot due to being on the 8 year old iPad.

All duplicates of mine are gone now, but now there are two number 17's.

Yeah, the lag-bug definitely caused a lot of duplicates, but I was hoping the duplicate issue has gone away since then. As it happens again (to anybody) please reply with all the details above.

Regarding the two #17 posts: We could rebuild all the counters, but unless we see it widespread to tons of threads / posts, I don't think it will make much difference to have that one. If you see it other places, let me know.

Okay, I will pay attention to more duplicates and get screenshots of them if I see them.
