Dust bath

My 1.5 week old wyandotte chicks are trying to dust bath in tge pine shavings and in there grit bowl should i add a tray of dirt for them to scratch round in?

That would work. Better yet if you can get your hands on wood ash, use that! No bbq coals, just good ol' wood.

My two favorite dirt bath mediums for the brooder are sand and peat moss. The chicks absolutely adore both! Maybe they like the peat moss a little better since it's so terribly dusty. It's a clean dust, though.
