dust bath ?

At what age do you let the chicks take a dust bath?

I put a flowerpot saucer of sand in their pen when they were 2 weeks old for grit because they were getting a few treats, but they used it to bathe in instead! Sand everwhere, but they were so cute!

Ople my buff orpington started taking a dust bath yesterday when we took her outside for a while......she is only a week and two days old

Thanks...I bought some DE and was going to use that mixed in with some sand but I'm not sure when to let them bathe in it and was wondering when other people introduced their chicks to dust baths.

I would like to know too, mine are 3 weeks and the bit of sand i put in there they eat all up.. so if you find out anything about the dust bath let me know too thanks

My chicks were about 3 weeks old when they started taking dirt baths.

Mine started at about 5 days, which is when we first took them outside.

Is chinchilla sand ok? I happen to have some, but I'm not sure if it's good for them to eat.

I took mine out at 2 weeks and as long as the sun shone on them, they scrubbed their wings against the bare grass!
They eded up making their own dirt hole with their little leggies
