DUST BATHING

Thanks, that's what I was thinking. I have some long 2x8s that have been joined sideways together by the carpenters while building our house, I guess to use for a workbench or something, so I was thinking sawing these to size and making a box from them and then filling with sand/peatmoss/DE.

In reading up about dust bathing has anyone ever tried the fine "clumping" kitty litter (new not used of course). I ordered some food grade DE today and will add that to whatever I decide to use.

Mine always choose to take a dust bath in the very sandy, sunny part of our run. They seem to find the combination of sand + heat pretty irresistable. I love watching them push under each other for room in a particularly good hole.

Our chicken run has sand, construction grade sand and when I bring bring in fresh it is so entertaining. They love it, sand flies everywhere, money well spent.
