Ok so here is my Dutch or perhaps Dutch mix?? His name is Napoleon. I think perhaps a mix because his lobes are not pure white like they should be but he is soooo handsome.

He looks like an Ideal Poultry bird. They used Old English and crossed them with Dutch to try to make the Black Tailed Buff Dutch. The body shape, tail, and stance is wrong for a Dutch. Sorry.

i know they should have red lobes. i have seen several poor quality birds this spring that were sold as SQ Nankins

Yes, this is from Ideal, looks a OEG to me, except for the white lobe and slate legs.

Did you order Dutch or Nankins? Im curious, a friend of mine got a group of nankins from Ideal and one of the pullets won bob at several shows. Placing ahead of several of the better known Nankin breeders.

I order dutch (25) assorted. For know I just keep one lavander pullet.
Some died and sold the males. But I prefer the OEGB, but bought here
in the island.

dutch from the hatcheries are often crossed with OEG, thats how they end up with the colors they have. In real Dutch, the color names the hatcheries have just do not exist, like BB Red for example. Cream light brown, Blue cream light brown, light brown and blue light brown. also have silver, white , blue, black, Buff, (not black tailed buff) and the newsest that are found in actual pure Dutch is Mille Fleur.
