We are totally unable to count all of our chicken. The silkies breed like roaches and die stupidly as well. We came across last falls attempt at a count of them all today and I found it humorous.

😂 that’s why I don’t keep silkies! (Also why I don’t keep roosters!) is the count down now? I had trouble keeping up with my 12 identical birds a while back, but I could perfectly pin point who was who besides them!

Oh no the count is not down. The silkies insist they will always be here regardless of my wishes. We just got 7 new ones a few weeks ago from a sneaky broody.
Lol. They could start their own entire culture, I hope they aren’t ruining your feed bill up to high!

Oh, geez... we're pretty sure one of the two silkies we have is a roo - much more upright and cocky than the other one... Like roaches, huh? Face + palm.
Lol, I hope your turn out isn’t the same.. just wait for the crow and you’ll know who needs to go! Or you could start a silkie colony to!

Silkies barely eat. I think I have had a 50# bag last over a month for feed. They have an acre to roam and we do free range them. We had 12+ inches of rain last month and plenty of insects and grass for them to eat. We do trim their muffs and heads so they can become successful chicken.

Oh I didn’t realize they ate less. Glad they’re an easy keeper but don’t you get pecked when you trim their faces lol

Not at all they are a gentle breed. We do utilize a towel to burrito them when it is time to do hair. Still they are the cockroaches of the chicken world in my opinion. I will never be rid of them humanely.
