(warning! Poop picture!!)

Hello all,

I have a 1 year old cochin bantam rooster. He has always been smaller than other of his breed, a late bloomer, doesn't crow etc and is bullied by the other chickens.

They didn't let him eat so he lost weight. I tried to separate him and feed him, but it seemed like he almost had trouble eating and he drank almost nothing.

Now he has become so weak, he can't get up to the roosting bars.

His poop have also been looking weird lately, it's white-ish with this green worm-looking thing (it's not an actual worm though)

I need your help now BYC because I can't stand to lose him and I can't stand him suffering :(

Thanks

Have you wormed your flock? I would put poultry vitamins in his water, and a probiotic would help if it is not included in the vitamins or his feed. Have you tried separating him in a cage in with the other chickens? Offer him some chopped egg, canned tuna or salmon, liver, and buttermilk in addition to his regular feed. My chickens love raw egg beaten into some buttermilk, and placed on bread crumbs or feed. Was he vaccinated for Mareks disease? He could have some underlying disease, but you might want to get a sample of his droppings tested for worms, bacteria, and coccidia. Valbazen or SafeGuard liquid goat wormer or equine paste are very good wormers. Tube feeding him might boost his nutrition and immunity. Here is a link to many threads about that: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/805728/go-team-tube-feeding

I'm writing this for anyone who may find this helpful.

Sadly, he died today morning. I suspect that he had coccidiosis... I was meant to call the veterinarian today to buy medicine (all anti parasitic medicine must be prescribed from a veterinarian in Sweden) but instead I had to call the autopsy center. Coccidiosis is still not confirmed but I highly suspect it because:

1. His poop was white and slimy (stuck to his feathers).
2. Droopy wings
3. No interest in food and water
4. Did not move much, sleepy all the time

Rest in peace Dustymilian Vitterving, forever loved <3
