maybe your thermometer is not accurate? maybe it was hotter than 90? I always put sugar in the water for the first few days, that acts as an electrolite.
did you have the brooder covered? sometimes if it is too covered they can really overheat. I would check your temp gage also.. sounds like it is maybe off.
