So sorry. I hope your DH will get better and QUIT smoking too!

I quit cold turkey 8 years ago. It was hard, but I decided I had enough fun and the years were rolling by - just getting too old for it.

Can I ask how old your DH is? I got my DH to quit after almost nagging him to death and countless arguments and fights. He gained 15 lbs, but I hope that's less dangerous than the smoking. He's been smoke free now for 2 years. I always begged him to stop BEFORE he got sick.

Little farm-big happy. you are so right on,
Dh being an ex marine, took up smoking when he enlisted
as I believe a lot do.

thats 40 years of abusing your lungs. But he has no desire
to smoke since this came about, and thats already 6 weeks in bed and he is so
not in to laying in bed. but knows he is too so weak,and here is a man
that would not take even take an asprin but the cigs had to be in his hand all the time.
we do see an improvement now All I
am concerned about is the Dec.11 appt.with the other scan.
he does have more of an appetite
but can only eat small amounts.due to all the inflamation a tablespoon of this and that.
and 1/2 gal of OJuice a day
thats all he craves.
the inflamation makes hard it for him to swallow.but thanks to all the well wishers
and prayers and the great doctors
He is coming along much better. thank you all.
So please all you guys and gals toss the cigs away.
and give you loved ones the chance to Love you a lot longer.

You are in my daily prayers Sissy.

Last summer at a rodeo here in SWVA, I nearly had a meltdown while watching a tobacco company GIVE AWAY cewing tobacco.

It was all I could do not to go over and snatch those cans from every person in line and raise a huge fuss. I was stunned that with all we know about addiction that companies are still allowed to 'hook' users. It was no different than giving GI's cigs in their ration packs all of those years ago.

Gah! My BP is rising just thinking about it.

Please tell your DH thank you for being strong enough to quit. I am still working on getting mine to make the committment. Bless you both.

Iam very anxious about the Dec.11 scan.

This is an earth shattering expierience.

Sissy, how is your husband doing now? I just read this thread and am so sorry and pray all is better now? I smoked for about forty years and quit about ten years ago. Dr. says my lungs sound very good and not like a smoker's at all so hope your dh has finally kicked the habit. It is so very hard to stop.

PEOPLE QUIT SMOKING PLEASE .. i just had my father die 2 weeks ago and it wasn't a pretty sight.. he had smoked all his life and ended up with lung disease.. for the last 2 yrs he was on an oxygen machine that he traveled with.. then he collasped in the driveway and ended up in the hospital.. to make a long story short he died 4 days later.. yes he DROWNED on his own fluids that his lungs couldn't remove.. it was a horrible way to die.. so PLEASE QUIT and do it for your self and those who love you.. sorry to be so brutal but it needs to be heard.. maybe it will scare you enough so that you will be able to quit..linda

Update....... DH doing much better Lungs clearing up and

all thought it to be Cancer but WAS not

it was Cyprogenic penumonia ( we never heard of it)also called BOOP
But after being in bed for 2 months he had congestive
heart from the fluid build up , alls really much better now
and Heart specialist feels
heart will heal it self. since there was no blockage.
He no longer smokes.. And I pray every one
would stop and save yourselves for those that care about you..

Another winter storm due here tomorrow, Sissy, maybe you will get some cold to firm up that mud you have?
