I noticed one of my hens limping yesterday. Upon inspection we found a punchture hole in her foot pad. She has all the sign of early infectioN setting. We soaked her foot a few times in epsom and warm water. I caught itearly enough there isn't a scab or head to the wound. Should we just keep soaking and use antibiotic cream and bandage to keep further dirt out? Wait to see if it will. Form a head or kernal we can get to?

My chickens have cut their feet and were leaving bloody foot prints on the ground. We stopped the bleeding and released them outside without any other care. They healed right up.
However, to be on the careful side you could put some medication on the foot and keep her on clean, dry substrate. She would do better on grass, which is clean, instead of inside of a coop or a dirt pen.

Hope she gets better soon!

They are free room in day light, then in coop at night that's on grass we move it daily to keep them clean. Going to soak it clean I guess and wait and see. Her foot was prettyy swolllen yesterday. Thanks :)

Thanks I read that. We are soaking in a betadine solution and watching. Since it just happened, I don't think it has a core yet. I think cutting into her foot this early would be more harmful. There is no scab yet. That article is great though. I have it book marked. Also would wheat grass be a safe way to boost the vitamin intake for the girls?
