Early February 2016 Hatch - Who's In?

Check whether you have the right wire to the right terminal, you may have them crossed.

The pump is very loud, to my ear, do you ever hear it rotating? The menu should show a "P" when it calls for the pump to do its thing, do you see this? Does the spindle rotate shortly thereafter? How many times does the spindle rotate?

I have the RH set to 70% but it normally stays at 40% since lockdown unless I add water myself.

The wires are correct because I actually set up my incubator first and then added the pump later. Only two portals on mine and the pump is the smaller of the two.

I agree, the pump is loud. Mine doesn't show a "p" but it uses the asterisk to signify use the pump? I see the spindle move as if to rotate but it won't actually rotate unless I take off the tubing. When the tubing is on it'll make sounds like it's moving, but it's not?

Did you cut the piece of tubing that goes across the top of the pump yourself? Sounds like you may have cut it too short. The pump manual tells you how long it should be, double check your cut.

And I have to say, this is my last piece of advice. Your problem has defied every issue I have ever had with the pump. Now please don't take this wrong, but it means to me that there is a problem that you are overlooking. So, disconnect the pump entirely, remove all hose, and start entirely over following the manual and DON'T BELIEVE ANYTHING YOU THINK YOU DID RIGHT. Even better, read the instructions to a young child, let them do it.

Lol, no offense taken. It's funny that you said that because basically that's what I did when I came home. I started from scratch, cut everything over again via the manual, followed the steps, sucked the water, etc. I feel like I must be missing something obvious but I don't know what! Thanks for the help!

If you are in the U.S., Brinsea is in FLA, call them early tomorrow and get them to walk you through it. They are awesome folk. The real techs are in the U.K., but even in Canada there are good ppl to help. So, give them a call early.

Personally, I'm happy with paper towels. After all, we're only trying to prevent stuff from getting into the small holes, and a single paper towel does that just fine. It also doesn't cause any problems for the chicks walking.

Yea, that wouldn't work in my incubators since water channels are on the bottom. It would be the equivalent of covering them and reducing humidity.
