Early February 2016 Hatch - Who's In?

My goodness. I think you are right. I had assumed it was working but thinking about it, I really haven't had to fill the water reservoir at all. I check it daily to make sure there aren't any kinks in the tubes but never thought to look for holes (it's brand new and this is the first time I've used it). As soon as I go home I am going to check it out and will let you know. Hopefully it is an easy fix as described above! I was able to bring up the humidity on the inside but only because I added a couple of small sponges in a small medicine cup. I'd rather rely on the humidity pump though!

Just so you know, by rights you should not need to put any water in reservoirs, sponges, or anything else in a Brinsea with a humidity pump. The humidity pump, and some place for the water to sit in the bator, will provide you with the most control over your RH%. So, once you get water coming out the bator end of the pump's hose, take all that other stuff out. You should be able to get it to lockdown RH% (65-75%) within an hour or so.

WARNING!!! DO NOT USE CHEESE CLOTH under eggs. Baby got tangled and I lost a lot of humidity and heat removing it.

You want to anchor all four corners of the cheese cloth to the wire bottom to prevent that. I've seen that happen myself. Have to have it stretched nice and tight across the wire and wrapped a bit under to prevent that.

Personally, I'm happy with paper towels. After all, we're only trying to prevent stuff from getting into the small holes, and a single paper towel does that just fine. It also doesn't cause any problems for the chicks walking.

Checked all the hoses and they seemed fine. I went ahead and took off and put in some more, just in case. It just doesn't seem to be sucking up water from the reservoir. I even tested the hoses by pulling water in but it seemed to actually push the water back into the reservoir?

Here's my set up:

Notice the right side of my picture? See how there is a smooth arc of hose? When I look at your picture, I can't see the hose on the right side at all.

So, remove the right side of the hose from the lid, and unwind it from the spindle. Then take the end of the hose from the left side, the end that is in the bator, and take it out and put it in your mouth...then suck on it. You should get water in your mouth. If you don't, there's a problem, if you do, let me know.

I had an arc earlier but when I changed out the tubes I forgot to put it back. Water does come out on the left side that is connected to the bator when I suck on it, just doesn't appear to do it on its own. Since I changed the tubes no change in humidity.

Ok, you said you have an Advanced. So the pump is plugged into the bator top, right?

What do you have the RH% set to in the bator menu?

Check whether you have the right wire to the right terminal, you may have them crossed.

The pump is very loud, to my ear, do you ever hear it rotating? The menu should show a "P" when it calls for the pump to do its thing, do you see this? Does the spindle rotate shortly thereafter? How many times does the spindle rotate?

Ok, you need to verify that the pump is actually electrically connected to the bator. If you see the spindle rotate even once, while connected, that's verification. If not, re-read the manual on connecting it.
