Early February 2016 Hatch - Who's In?

:yiipchick Welcome! Doing dry hatch here as well. Now that the eggs are in - still trying to find the sweet spot with humidity - we're either in the 20s or the 40s it seems:rolleyes:

I am also struggling with humidity with dry hatch. With nothing I run at 16 one water well and it jumps into the upper 40s. I found putting the measuring cups that come on children's medicine in there until I get the right humidity. I've been sitting at 35 pretty steady overnight. :celebrate

Same....Since it's winter, and ambient humidity is pretty low, I had to add a small cup of water to bring the humidity out of the teens. Aiming for 30% average humidity. Set half a dozen mutt eggs this morning! It's a wonderful thing to think about that in 3 weeks that egg will be a fluffy little chick!!!! No matter how many times I hatch I still can't get over the wonder of it all :)

That's good! Dry hatch is easier to do in the summer when the ambient humidity is higher

It's winter and I am having to incubate in a room that I can't close the door this time. I'm sure it will all work out well. 3 weeks goes by so fast and it is amazing to experience the "boring" egg to the fluffy cuteness overload of hatching :)

Is it normal for my humidity to jump around? I literally have the same amount of water in the well and it keeps jumping in between 40-50%. The conditions in the room the incubator is in stay fairly consistent... I'm just worried that the fluctuation will do some harm?

I set 5 Whole Food eggs last night to sit next to my 5 mixed flock eggs.

My humidity is sitting at 40% but I am having to fill the water once every two days. Winter really dries things out. I was sitting at 35% until yesterday evening when I accidentally added too much water.

I started my hatch on Monday but didn't get my hygrometer until Thursday and the humidity was at 85%! Crud- it that bad for my eggs? It's dry here in Michigan and worse with the wood stove and I was only putting in about 5-10 ml of water a day!
So, then it went down to 25%. I thought humidity was to be between 40 & 50% the first 18 days. I added a thimble full of water in a pop cap and it's now 45%.

Is my hatch ruined? Should I start over with new eggs? Maybe I should wait til Monday and candle what I have. Mon will be 7 days.

I am not an expert but I don't think you have anything to worry about. Candle them and keep an eye on the air cells. Humidity is really only super important during the last few days.
