We have 4 RP poults about 2 months old. One attempted a half-a** gobble this morning. Is that early for a tom? He's also quite a strutter/displayer. ;)

He's been strutting for weeks...which I understand some hens week do...meant the gobbling. Know that's the only sure fire way to sex turkeys until the head turns blue and snoop develops.

I video taped 2 of my 4 two week old BBWs strutting and attempting to gobble. Funniest thing I've ever seen. I wish I could post a video.

They are funny, aren't they? Like teenage boys with squeaky voices. lol I have been getting a twisted kick out of playing a turkey call to them from my phone and watching their reactions. Two are interested and the two (probable) hens, run to hide. I've read that THAT can be an indicator of gender in turkeys. The toms either don't care or are interested in it and the girls are submissive and either lay down or hide. Dunno how true it is yet, but I know I have one definite Tom (the gobbler) the suspect I got lucky and got two pairs from the four RP I bought. I picked up 4 Blue Slate poults yesterday and play on trying the same turkey call test in a week or so and will record my results and let you all know. :)
