Well I stop the turner this afternoon 8 pm ( looking at the calander i see i was suposed to stop it late thursday night not friday night) and me and the wife go to dinner. We get back i prep some litter pans with shavings and place them in the incubator to warn up to seperate the eggs out in. So were doing our thing and the wife happens to go in to the middle bedroom where the incubator is and she says: HEY You got chicks HATCHING. Im like WHAT!! I just stopped the turner tonight. Well i go in there and 1 Poult is Upside down caught inbetween the greating and the wall ( hence why the pans to hold the eggs) Im like Holy S**T. I get it unstuck and in a pan and i see there like 6-7 more pips since i was in there putting it in the pan. Or at least i wasnt looking for them yet cause it's TOOO early. I set the eggs on Easter april 4th that puts me at day 26, 2 days early. The thermometers were setting anywhere between 99-100 depending on which one you looked at and where in the incubator it was placed. some were indooor /outdoor reading 100.5 out and 99.2 in. So go figure. I know there is error factors but 2 days worth of growth? Anyway Nancy (bargain) your a Grandmother AGAIN. Will try to post Pics when be get back tommorrow afternoon from Gilmanor. Well Thats my story.
Well We got home from the swap (now im a boer Goats DAD Howd did that happen?) Finished figuring out what to do with Boer, and checked in on the Eggs. Well there were no farther along and the few that had really broken away the shell the membrane was tight. Only one was self released. The humidity was 69% i figured it would have been high enough. I misted them away from there beek and let then sit a little longer. After that We started to extract the little guys and we got 6 out that were ailve but 5 had Died in the shell. They haj just a pip in the shell, bairly poking through. What do think happened. Drowned? To weak from being early? Who Knows? The temps in the bator ranged from 99-100.2 based on where and what thermometer you were looking at. The humidity stayed 50+ % abd was normally running high 50 low 60% the whole time. Any ideas on what to change adjust fro the next time? Thanks
