Earth Hour- March 28 8:30!

If you say so. The little rolling-on-the-floor-laughing icons suggested otherwise. Sorry I misunderstood your intent. When I open a thread in which someone is talking about something I personally don't "buy," I don't usually respond by making sure they know I'm laughing about their convictions. Again, sorry for the misunderstanding.

Okay so if the earth is cooling and it's been proven, where are those facts and non government funded studies that say it? Just curious if you've already done the research, point it out , I'd like to see it.

Thanks

Nancy

I think the point is to get people to realize that it IS possible to shut things down for a little while without their world coming to an end, and the hope is that maybe some people WILL start doing it every day.

It's not all about climate change, either. For one, an awareness of our dependence on fossil fuels...there are lots of others, too.

Right, thats what I was trying to get across, but sometimes I'm not so good with the word thingy.

I just realized that I'll have an incubator running at that time.

But I bet I can shut off everything else! My daughter will love it--it'll be an adventure. Kind of like those designated days that you're encouraged to turn of the TV, or (*gasp*) get off the internet (!!!). Sure, you could do it anytime, but having it scheduled and having others join you just makes it easier. Then you find you have such a good time interacting with your family, that you make a habit of it!

(Actually, I bet I could shut the incubator off for one hour, if I wrapped it up first.)

Thank you for making us aware of this. I am ALWAYS trying to cut down on energy usage. I am a recycling nut, too.

No matter what, it is always wise to conserve energy. It will save you money on your electric bill too!!!

It also makes a person feel like they're making a difference more than just remembering to turn off the lights when you leave a room. And even ignoring global warming entirely, it's never a bad thing to just shut everything off and spend time with friends and family.
