Earth Hour- March 28 8:30!

redhen, my electric bill is horrible, too. I think that our house is just terribly inefficient, energy-wise. We have spent thousands, a little at a time, attempting to bring things to a more energy-efficient level, but it doesn't seem to be helping much. We just got a new water heater about a week ago, and before that, it was a whole new heat pump and ductwork. I'm afraid that what this house REALLY needs is to have the front half (which was added on by a previous owner) completely re-wired.

It also makes a person feel like they're making a difference more than just remembering to turn off the lights when you leave a room. And even ignoring global warming entirely, it's never a bad thing to just shut everything off and spend time with friends and family.

I do shut of all my lights, and electric appliances when they arent in use. So please dont think Im not earth friendly. I just dont buy the global warming. For those wanting proof just search for it, it is out there. But its like everything else you can find so called proof to back up and shoot down anything.

I guess Im old school and I happen to belive in the book of Revelations (in the Bible), God himself will be the one that destroys the earth as we know it, not mankind.

We do all have different viewpoints! And there's nothing wrong with that. I'm a Christian, but I don't follow the "well, it's OK if we use up all our resources, because the end-times will come before then" school of thought (bsaffles, that isn't directed at you). I believe that God made us stewards of all we've been given, and entrusted the earth to our care--there is so much scripture that exhorts us not to squander our gifts, whether earthly or spiritual.

And of course, ask 100 different people to interpret a scripture, and you'll get 100 different interpretations!

I also belive we are stewards of what God has given us, I try to do my part as best as I can. You are very right not many people interpert the bible the same way, and I agree we are susposed to take care of what God has gave us, but he also has the final say in it no matter what we do. (By the way nijapoodles I know you was directing that towards me, I dont go by that school of thought either.

ahh! Global warming has nothing to do with god... its US who are living here on the earth..IMO...and yes brian, we are all entitled to our own ideas..why would anyone be bothered by yours?...

It just seems that because I dont buy into alot these "global warming" type things, that people always think I dont care about the earth, and I myself am trying my best to destroy it.

Go figure. ETA: I can bet I use way less natural resources than most people. Oil, gas, electricity, water, energy, etc...

I've had major hot flashes lately....and the cooling thing sounds good to me. Global warming sounds scary....but what do I know? I'm just in my own little universe....

Dude. I would just have to pay up on that bet! You'd certainly win. I'd probably lose on paper-towel-count alone.
