Earthquake

We felt the earthquake over here, we haven't felt a earthquake in quite a few years, and I've never felt one before..

at first it sounded like a HUGE truck pulled into our yard so I was going to look out the window to see if someone pulled up, but when the house started shaking I pretty much knew that it wasn't a truck. We had some things fall off the shelves. Me, my mom and Dad were in the living room, my sister and grandmother in the bedroom playing some games, and once the house started shaking everyone stood up, looking around trying to figure out what was happening.

My grandmother came into the living room really quick, and had told my sister to come but my sister I guess didn't hear her. My sister was playing the game and was so into it, that until one of my grandmother's old doll's that was sitting on top of the TV fell on my sister's head, then she came running into the living room.. We are fine though, but it was scary.

We had some people outside at the same time building us a fence in a portion of our yard for our chickens, so our first thought after the Earthquake had passed was to check on them, we looked out, they were fine and were still working on the fence.. Then my next thought was to check on my chicks and ducklings inside the house because we leave the lids off during the day and I wanted to make sure nothing accidentally fell inside the brooders, they were alright. Acting like nothing happened. .

The older chicks outside in the brooder in our shed looked like they were startled when it happened because they had pushed up some bedding like they took off running, but everyone was doing fine. a few things fell over in the shed, though.

Our neighbors were outside a few minutes after the earthquake talking about how their houses had been shaking. It was scary, but amazing at the same time.

Hope everyone else is okay out there.

Well I am feeling a bit paranoid, first I am in Kure Beach, N.C. and they have a waterspout on Thurs.
then on Friday they saw some funnel clouds, and then I get back home, start mowing and theres a
earthquake! Very paranoid!!!!

I felt it here in NC. I was just sitting there, doing my Latin, and I hear this very quiet rumble and feel a distinct, unnerving vibration. Got up, looked outside to check for a helicopter or large truck, saw nothing. Came back in, and just stood there listening to all the stuff on the furniture rattle mysteriously.

Didn't make the connection until about 5 minutes ago to the Shenandoah earthquake.

I'm in Upstate NY, about 20 miles outside of Albany. My birds had all been lazing around the run while I was sitting out there reading (and avoiding housework), when they suddenly all leapt to their feet at once and ran flapping and squawking to huddle up against the gate of the run. I thought I'd felt something, but dismissed it as a truck on the highway nearby. There are no real frames of reference out there - nothing to rattle or shake visibly - so I didn't find out it was a quake until I came back inside.

I was getting something out of the cabinet and thought I imagined it.
I would have hated to be in Virginia today. We have had small quakes in my part of N.C. before.
Should have known this time I wasnt just dizzy!!!
