Earthquake

You had a little back in 2001 when the one hit the Nisqually basin...caused my flight into Sea-Tac to to be diverted all over the danged place and 14 hours late arriving. *sigh* Hope you do not feel anything that probably means Hood, Shasta or Rainier has blown

Was @ work and we heart first the roof cracking............than the dryer start wobbeling and the Coke on my partners station start making waves and then we felt the floor bouncing, like a ship in ruff sea. And that all in seconds.................amazing that all the dogs were quiete before and after..........The location was Reading PA

Yep, here in California we surf our earthquakes

Seriously though, we have a fault that runs through our pasture. The last big one we had must have opened up the fissures under our property. Our well filled up and we had warm water coming out of our faucets for a while. It was shortly after that that we had a pipe burst under our kitchen slab. Of course, unless you carry an umbrella policy that covers earthquakes, you're out of luck.

Thing is, East Coast buildings aren't exactly built with quakes in mind, so what might be a "whatever" event in CA could be a lot more significant over here. That said, I can certainly understand the "what - THAT?" reaction I'm seeing all over the Interwebs, as it's a close cousin to the reaction I have when I hear about someplace being absolutely paralyzed by an inch of snow.

my daughter lives in Oregon, close by and says that growing up in S CAL has prepared her to move without wasted energy in being panicked. She's pretty cool headed. Now every time it snows, she goes into goofy mode giving away the fact that this isn't something she's used to.
