Earthquake

Checked with my son whom knows more of geology than me, whom verified it with some of his profs, and said that the deeper the source of the quake, the more likely animals will sense what is going on. Not just movement, but particles of (I forget the term he used) 'stuff' floating in the air, including minerals. That's why sometimes people get odd headaches afterwards (depending on the weather condition at the time. Its sort of like if you take a really dirty carpet outside and start beating it with a stick, then the wind flies everything in your face. Every time the earth shifts, its like a ripple effect, over land and sea. For those of you whom have a phone or tablet with the ability to get apps on it, try Quakewatch. It helps knowing how common these really are, and the different patterns involved.

Felt it way up here in mid-MI - I'm on the 3rd floor of a narrow building, and all sorts of stuff at my desk (and all over) was rocking a bit.

Was weird at first - I just all of a sudden felt dizzy and sick. Then I realized it wasn't ME moving, everything else was moving me. Really knew it wasn't me when everyone else in the cube farm started speaking out.

Weird thing now is I have a migraine that popped up - don't think it's from that, but it's a nice thing to blame it on

We are about 36 miles from Mineral, my dogs had been acting up all day starting at 4 this morning. I also started with a headache around noon, I never get headaches. We are in Culpeper Cty, Culpeper schools are closed until further notice, and downtown got hit hard, one building collapsed and several others are condemned.

I'd never been thru an earthquake before, but DH had and he knew right away what it was. I thought at first that the washer was running and was out of balance, but it didn't stop, so my second thought was it was the dogs, in fact I was getting up out of the chair to go holler at the dogs, then it sounded like a freight train was running thru the house and DH realized that it was an earthquake and grabbed me to stop me from going into the dining room. We checked the house after it passed and everything seems to be ok.

That was really scary, I'd always wondered what it would feel like to be in an earthquake, OK, I know now, no more please.

No fault responsible
Ice age and glaciers
the weight of the glaciers have eased
off, therefore letting the plates release.
Kinda of like blowing up a balloon. Very
weird. My son is a geologist major. That's
what he said!
