Easiest and Best Incubator

Quote:
Yes Dickey is a great cabinet bator, for people who hatch hundreds of eggs but it would be a stretch for somebody hatching 20 or so eggs at the time.

You can't compare a passanger car to a semi.

Brinsea ECO 20 is a bargain at regular price and a steal at $99.00 when on sale. Obviously if you want all bells and whistles you pay heavy dough for extras.

Myself if I was to spend $399 on a bator I woud buy 4 Brinsea Ecos at $99.00 a pop or cough some more cash for a Dickey or something similar, but my hatching volume does not really justify such capacity.

Well, call me crazy, but the easiest and cheapest is to let Mama do it! Of course, you don't always have a broody when you want to hatch some chicks, but for myself...I will just have to be patient and wait for a broody. Although a co-worker said he had a bator I could borrow...hmmmm....

It seems like this one got the most votes... the Brinsea Octagon 20 Advance EX http://www.brinsea.com/prod-Octagon_20_ADVANCE_EX_digital_egg_incubator_package-211.aspx

Except
it looks like it's around $500 and I didn't want to spend that much...

So will the Octagon 20 ECO work just as good too? It's only $150... quite a price difference!!!

I'd suggest getting one big enough to hold about 10x more eggs than you intend to hatch. I started with a 16 egg basic incubator, 2 months later changed to a 60 egg Hovebator then 3 months later had to buy a 140 egg cabinet one I could have saved a small fortune if I had got the big one first.
It's way, way too addictive more like a sickness in my opinion, lol
