East TN Granny needs eggs to hatch fast please :-)

Well, I posted this message under a different subject and then someone was kind enough to point me here where I probably should have posted in the first place. I'm so glad I found this site. I need help fast please. I promised my little granddaughter that I would get her a small incubator and some eggs to hatch for her birthday that is coming up in a couple of weeks. I found a small 3 chicken egg incubator online that is reasonably priced and will probably order it for her. Trouble is their 3 egg package for it costs more than the incubator and I can't see paying nearly $10.00 per egg. So, I'm hoping someone here can point me in the direction of someone/someplace here in the East TN area in or near Sevier County where I can get eggs much more reasonably priced. I surely don't want to disappoint my granddaughter for her birthday but I just can't afford to pay $30.00 for three eggs to go in a $20.00 incubator. If you can help me keep my promise to my granddaughter for her birthday without going broke I would sure appreciate your help.

And, while I'm here let me go a bit further and say that I grew up here in East TN and have many fond memories of farm life from spending lots of time on my grandparents farm. Which is what got this whole egg hatching thing started. My deal with my son is for my granddaughter to hatch them out and I am going to take them here at my house out in the country. A few years ago we built our house we live in now and I drew the plans because I wanted a farmhouse type home that reminded me of my grandparents place. So, now the next step I want to take is to become more self sufficient like they were and raising chickens is my next step in that direction. So, I'm not just here looking for eggs for my granddaughter to hatch. I'm here because I love everything about the country and I love chickens and plan to make them a permanent part of my life soon. So, I'll be needing lots of help to get me going.

Check your local Craigslist, or call your ag extention specialist. Im sure they know of many people close by you that raise chickens that you can get a few fertile eggs from. Even check your local flea market and see if anyone has a booth selling eggs; ask them if they are fertile. Im sure theres lots of options locally for you.

Okay I'm a small farmer too and love my grandchild....so here goes.
I can ship you 5 eggs (that will allow for any rough handling by po) for $15/(2 more eggs wouldn't affect the shipping for so close) as I'm in Georgia. My po handles my egs so gently.My eggs are very fresh and I have great hatch rates. My eggs are all purebred and their moms get lots of good veggies and grains and layer feed. Folks are paying $10 to pick up fertile eggs from us so you're getting a great deal here. Our $ support is hands on from the two of us on the farm. I left a desk job for this and haven't regretted it one minute. I just love our little run down farm and the animals and farming. Much longer hours, lower pay and no insurance but I sleep good at nite or when I just sit down - ha!!!!and I never run out of things to do or people to help. Well I'm rambling and gotta start the feeding.

I have a bunch of eggs from my mixed pen which I know to hatch well and from my polish rooster (afro chicken

) over silkie hens (afros and feathers like fur) I can give you a green egg, a brown egg, and a polish/silkie so you have the best odds, for free if you want them.

(I have to check first) but I should be able to. We're near Morristown and can meet you somewhere. mine aren't pure bred so I would completely understand I you would like the other eggs

I'm in Sevier county. I have mutt eggs, standard hens (BUff Orp or EE) with a frizzle cochin roo over them.
Sometimes those 3-egg incubators can be tricky. If you want to meet me for free eggs just let me know and we can work out the details. That way you can try again if something goes wrong on the first attempt.

Also, I'll have chicks late Feb or early March. Several breeds, from shipped eggs. I'm a hatchaholic

I use a Brower incubator that can hold 50 eggs (much to my hubby's dismay).

hi, i'm in kingsport tn. i have a roo and he's been lovin' on the gals. u can pick up as many as you want

but i can't guarantee they're fertile. i'm just assuming since they are "doing the dirty". no charge of course. my roo is a brahma (buff) i have brahma hens and he's also been lovin' on my silkies. so if you're interested let me know
