You can’t get an idea of it with the picture

Color(aka pigment) pigment is a spray that the hens will spray on the eggs as one of the last stages of egg laying. That’s why you can sometimes see eggs dry immediately after being laid. Certain breeds have certain pigments. All eggs start out white and are sprayed with that color. Brown is the most common pigment. SF’s and EE’s and other colored layers just have a certain protein that can produce different pigments like blue and pink
Blue eggs are a whole different process. They aren't "sprayed" like brown eggs.
I won't get into that now.
So youre saying they have a certain protein that produces pink color?
I just don't know any breed that lays a true pink egg. I've had SFs bantam and LF but none ever laid pink eggs.
I'm just not sure about your info. I'll have to do some searching now. You have any links?

No breeds will lay true pink eggs. I wasn’t saying that. Some will just have a very slight pink tint

I really enjoy BYC! I'm always learning something new. I've been in the retail meat business for 49 years. To quote a popular commercial "We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two". I know a thing or two about bloom as it relates to beef but I don't have a clue how it relates to eggs. Can you help me understand? :wee

Bloom is a layer that coats the egg for "protection" ...

A egg just laid is wet, that's the bloom. When it dries (fast) it's not seen nor felt. It's the "protective" coating that helps to preserve the egg while under the hen or on our counter tops. Egg shell is porous the bloom coats the shell helping with preserving ...

Can't think of any other way to explain HELP! :he

I've got 4 BOs & the color of their eggs are light tan? But one does lay a brown one now & then. I know who lays by the shape of their eggs, not color ...

Thanks ChickNanny13, Your explanation was very helpful to me. You can pass through that wall now, it's OK.

Bloom(cuticle) is usually where the pinkish/purplish tints are, rather than the coating.
These pics are both lighting and the camera 'adjusting' colors...
...have seen this before.
Sure looks wild tho!!

Had Brahmas that laid pinkish eggs with purplish speckles,
coating was light brown, bloom added the tint and speckles.
