I just rescued a 3 or 4 week old duck somebody dumped to fend for itself. It's a pekin and the poor thing was hungary and scared on the pond he was in. My neighbor called me this morning to see if one of my ducks had got out because she knows I have some. I told her no and she told me that there was a duck in the pond. I couldn't go get it then because I was about to leave so she put out some food and a dog crate for it if it wanted it. When I got home it hadn't eaten and I managed to catch it with a net. I put him in a cage next to my 6 week old ducks and he seemed happy and wants to be with the big ducks and they want to be with him. He ate all the food I gave him. One of his legs is kind of turned in and weak looking. Probably from an improper diet. I'm going to give him some brewers yeast and hopefully he won't be crippled. I hope it's a girl bit it's voice is still peeps.
It makes me mad people just don't understand that all ducks can't fend for themselves. He is still half down and has itty bitty wings. I'm glad I got him. He is actually really sweet and not very skittish, I'll post pictures of him and his legs later.
