Easter Egger chicks 8 weeks old- pullets?

While they may not have the appearance of the "traditional" Easter egger,(green legs, beard) it is important to note that there is actually no set of characteristics that are specific to birds that are Easter eggers. East eggers can be derived from many different genetic crossings and so there is no set of characteristics that 1 should or should not have. Nor is there any way to tell whether or not these are in fact Easter Eggers until they lay. Interestingly enough AC could very well be used in an Easter egg or crossing....melanistic crosses are gaining popularity with out crosses being made to have mechanized birds producing various egg colors, appearances, etc
Ok, so I just read this post. Guess we will wait and see. Made me feel a hair better.

I agree, they do not look like EEs, more like Ayam Cemani which came to mind when I saw the pics. Both looks to be pullets. 2x Ol Grey Mare, she more experienced in recognizing are.

It's disappointing to find out what you purchased isn't want you asked for. At the same time they are your first set of chickens and it's a good learning process. You could call the breeder/seller and express your disappointment but I doubt they'll do anything. You could sell them and start over, I understand the disappointment but it's "an adventure". Keep us updated, which comes the crow or the egg :fl

I will update! This is my second batch. Unfortunately I lost 4 of my last 6:( I thought I was doing better this time around and did my research. Still ended up misinformed, but that is what a grief purchase will do to you. I am disappointed, but I still like the little buggers no matter what they are! As long as they produce decent eggs I am happy, but I was really looking forward to the colored eggs.
