This is just by my definition which isn't the sole authority on EE's. For me, if it doesn't carry at least one copy of the blue egg gene, it's just a nice mutt. As it is, your chick is only 25% EE by genetics.

got a question for any one... my 2 nd EE laid 1 egg 4 days ago and I'v not got anything from her again, you think I did something?? I've not changed any feed, they get out to free rang cause it has been warm enough that I'm not worrying about frost bite. She is young, so that's not it. no one picks on her.

This time of year without extra light production is iffy. I have a pen with 1 pair and got 2 eggs and then nothing for the last 5 days. No lights in that pen. A pen with a light timer has started to produce after 2 weeks on extra light. 3 eggs yesterday out of 10. They will continue to ramp up until all are laying. Probably in a week or so all that are old enough will be laying.

Are they supervised during free range time? She could be hiding her eggs... Are you squeezing her every morning to move the egg along? (kidding) My EE started laying last September, and gave us an egg every other day like clockwork for 28 days then she stopped. I don't know why, the same run, the same food and water. We did add 4 hens to the flock but the new hens had also started laying. About 4 weeks ago when I put her with the other EE in the garden coop, she had started laying again, but this time the eggs are a lot bigger. Her schedule is still an egg every other day. Remember, they will lay in their own time and schedule. Everyday, every other....once a week...

no they aren't supervised, the rang on 2 ac. I went egg hunting yesterday, nothing... I do squeeze every morning just to get them all (29) jump started.... lol ( kidding )
the other EE lay every day early in the morning. the one that quite laying lays nice big blue egg. She teased me!!!!!!

I have a teaser too. Rumples laid her first real egg last week and I haven't seen another one from her since. It was a beautiful blue egg. I think that in time and warmer longer days, they will gift us with eggs. I just get cranky waiting for them.

I know how ya feel.... I am the same way waiting on her to lay again...

I find myself wanting to give more or maybe different treats cause it seems I get more eggs after treats? Is it just me or is that the way it goes... treats=eggs???

I have a light on from 5 am to 8 pm every day. I think she is just a tease... I'm getting 14 eggs out of 29
well 27 hens, 2 are roosters... don't understand why they aren't laying either... lol kidding

My EE Stella is 38 weeks old ....... she was born on Mother's Day. No eggs yet. Not a one! Is this normal?
