Lena - I love how she is just hanging out under the slide. Very sweet girl! She was a little feisty when she was younger.

King George - Glad I ended up with a roo, but I get a little jealous of all of you guys' roo's colorings and patterns! Poor KG...just plain white. He loves his girls though!

My girls are starting to make more and more noise. Anyone have tips on keeping them quiet? They are good on food and water. And the coop is a good size for the three of them.

I let them out after work on weekdays and a couple times a day on the weekends.

It's really my RR that is the noise maker but the other two get going sometimes

I'm a bit late here and have a lot of catching up to do... As far as keeping noisy hens quiet... the only way I've found is get rid of them.
It's hit or miss too. I had two EEs who were hatchmates. One roared all day long. From dawn to dusk. It was "raaawwwwrrrr" "eeeehhhhhh eeeehhhh eeeehhhhh" I'd feed them. Let them out. Put them in. Nothing eorked. So she went to live with my brother. She and an obnoxiously noisy Black Orpington... cuddly and sweet, both of thrm. But would NOT shut up.

salhomesteader, nice chicks!! green is neat!! I curious where the green face comes from??? anyone have an idea?? I not seen that before unless a peacock. Also KG is gorgeous!!

I'm pretty sure these are easter eggers, although the feed store was selling them as Americauna/Americuana Mix. So, I'd like to join the Easter Egger Club now.

Here they are a day after bringing home from the feed store:

Their first day outside at 3 weeks or so (it was a freakishly warm day so we decided to give them a break from the brooder:

They are 5 weeks old now and this is the second time it's been nice enough to let them outside (still in the process of building the coop so they get field trips out of the brooder to forage and play on a daily basis):

I was worried that Goldielocks might be a little Goldie-roo for a while there- she was always scrawnier than her sister and bossy and her comb started getting pink- but I am pretty sure they are both hens now. They seem to enjoy their field trips, and we only have a bit more work to get the coop ready (it's up, but still needs more ventilation and a roost or two before they can be transferred). I am so happy that they turned out to be such different colors. Their temporary names are Goldie and Hawk, for obvious reasons, but that seems to change on a weekly basis depending on their antics and as they feather in more. Goldie does have more fluff on her cheeks now, though, so I will have to update some pics when I can get them.
