Oh excellent, I didn't realize the curve of the tail was an indicator as well, but that makes sense.  As for the patchiness in color that was mentioned, I seen elsewhere that EE pullets tend to have more neutral and subtle color schemes, is that true?

Yep. From my own experiences with EEs. The most gorgeous calico colored ones are always roosters. Sometimes they'll have deep brick red patches on their shoulders. Sometimes these patches will be silver instead because something in their background bleaches out the red.

Thanks, the chicks already developed their 2nd layer of feathers so I cant really be sure of gender.

Your welcome! Post in a couple of weeks just to make sure you do have pullets! I want an all white EE. I have one that was all white, but the older she got, the more brown came in. I still love my little snowflake though. She is now 16 weeks so hoping for eggs soon!

She is pretty! I bought mine as pullets so the odds are in my favor I hope they weren't wrong!

The comb is way too pink and big for a pullet. the tail feathers also have a sickle shape.

I posted a pic of my Roo maybe will help. With the red patches. His tail is still filling out . He has the silver laced with gold on his back as well.

When will a EE commonly start to lay eggs? Should I be doing anything to help her get started? Like putting her in layer box? I'm so excited to get my first egg! I want her to lay in the coop not in yard . Any tips would be great! How many of you folks have had broody EE's? If it happens, will it be at a young age?
