Hi, folks --
Hoping you can help me with a little mystery!

I have had chickens for about a year and am still learning.

My beautiful, sweet little 15-month-old EE Chiquita has red and white earlobes - or at least has in recent months - when she was younger her earmuffs totally covered her ears. I was afraid the white meant that she had a fungus, favus. However, one website (http://www.developmentvet.aun.edu.eg/poultry diseases fourth year/ch2_4.htm) had suggested that you wash off the white before applying an antifungal. I just tried to wash off the white and it wouldn't wash off!

So I'm wondering if this is her natural ear color? Is this possible with EEs? It doesn't look quite right...

Would still need to figure why her neck is bald below her beard...maybe mites. Just noticed in last couple weeks, which she has her neck stretched out doing the egg song.

Thanks for any thoughts or experience you have to share!

Bald spot above - I'd put olive oil on her neck to sooth it so feathers are a bit wilted...

And in her younger days with invisible lobes!

Kenzier thank you! I have been telling him n he keeps saying pullet. I do have two one yr. oldhens with three rows but no saddle feathers. I really hoped pugsley would have stayed peach but I have three beautiful fellers now. Well I still think I have a sleeper, Gomez .I will try to get new pics of my boys tomorrow. Gomez looks to be getting a red shade and sadfle feathers also.I really don't want four males.

I keep waiting for Lurch to crow. He hardly makes any noise. Pugsley on the other hand never shuts up but had not crowed that I have heard. Fester is the boss and crows a few times a day so far, he still sounds funny and won't let me video him at it.But I am waiting for Pugsley to so he can hear it. Then I can win bet and say Ha, I told you!
