Easter Egger club!

If an EE lays a brown egg will it be light brown or dark? I'm trying to figure out who is laying in my flock and it's either an EE or a bantam Cochin. I have heard to put food coloring on their rear to tell does that work good

You have that right, I have alot of animals that I bought from a feed store and was told they were one thing and they turned out to be quite different. My last three Blue swedish ducks, I was told they were Kakhi Campbells. And two of my pullets I bought back last year, I was told they were buff orpingtons and they turned out to be Red Sex Link Roosters

Hi, I'm new to having easter eggers... I read up on them and bought 2 white easter eggers the other day, they are beautiful birds and I love them altho at the moment they are a bit flighty in comparison to my other hens. I'm having problems with them roosting tho wondered if anyone had any ideas? All my chickens free range in my garden during the day then out themselves to bed when it gets dark... Both my ee's tried to roost on top of the coop so I put them inside with the other birds and they settle down... This happened about 3 nights running.. Then one of them put them self up and the other was on too again... I thought it was just them getting used to it and then tonight I went down there and one was roosting on top of my 6ft fence and the other was some 12ft high up in a tree... After sending my husband up on his step ladders they are both safely in bed but I'm worried that if I keep free ranging them I'm goin to lose them? Any tricks for getting them to roost in the coop?

?when you first bring home new birds you should keep them in coop for first week or so, that way they know where home is. Another thought maybe that your other birds aren't letting them into coop on their own

I gave up on tsc. I order from hatcheries now every year. Do you have a pic of your ee pullet? I love EE's, they are my favorite!
This is my pullet. She is quite a stunning color. Her brother was even prettier, but he was a mean one had had to go. I didn't get them from TSC, but a different chain feed store. I think in the future I'll either breed my own or buy from a breeder.

Tried to load a photo of my EE roo, but it won't load. Hoping to hatch some chicks from him in the spring.
