Easter Egger club!

I got her from Meyer. Their site has a note on their EEs that some wil be bearded but not all. I sure wish she was cheeky, the blue Ameraucana that came with her is too cute for words. So do u think either chick is a non- bearded EE?

I didn't see any cheeks on either of them? There could still be a chance that they grow one when they get their feathers. I picked out 2 EE chicks at tsc and they both had beards, but a year later neither have any.

I think pullet. But only because I have a few single comb cockerels that are her age and have waayyy larger combs than that. Good luck! :)

I have seen some Hatchery Welsummer chicks that looked close to those. If you look at Meyers, the chick picks of wellies are very similiar, a bit lighter but close.
But that is what you get with many Hatcheries....their version of a breed!
I'll say that I am very interested to see how your Ameraucana turns out, really like what Meyer has done there! Though I wish they would explain BBS since they are breeding blues.
It is! That is exactly what she looks like: https://www.meyerhatchery.com/produ...WSessionId83=f97ed5d054ba4fb9b37f3113c62cfedc
She is just alot darker than these chicks on the site. I don't know why I didn't think to look for a chick pic on their site...

. But yes, it appears I have received the Welsummer in the 2nd chick in my pics, just a 'Meyer version' of a Welsummer at any rate. You have no idea how happy that makes me!!!

I'm not familiar with the term BBS, can you please tell me what that means? The Ameraucana chick I received is a splash according to other BYCers. Here she is, but these pics really don't do her justice because she had just gotten her poofy cheeks wet before I took them:

Does anyone have an EE with a dark, blackish pea comb? My girl's is growing in almost black, like my Partridge Rock. It's not pox or scabs.
My Lucy has a strange comb! Normal color intel you look at very top looks like a scab as well. I was wondering same thing?! Her comb is wavy too.ill try to snap a updated picture of her tonight. She's jumped up a few notches in pecking order and has a bit of a attitude:)

BBS is black ,blue, splash . This is what you get when you breed blue to blue . I only see blue on your chick . It may be a light blue as blue comes in many shades . Time will tell

As Jerry said, BBS is Black, Blue, Splash. The "Blue" gene (Bl) dilutes black. If they have a single copy they will be blue, two copies they will be Splash. So when breeding blues to blues, you do not know what color the chicks will be until they hatch. It might be easier to think of a blue as 1/2 black and 1/2 splash.
