Easter Egger club!

Well that was Uma's first time going broody. We haven't had any more going broody on us but we just started raising chickens. My mom has had a lot of hens go broody on her for sure. She had a lot when she was a kid. It's a nice way to hatch them is to let a hen hatch them the natural way. We were going on vacation when her eggs would have hatched so we decided not to hatch anything but we were considering it. Because we wanted some Serama chicks because they are all small and dainty and I have never held or seen a serama chick when it was still a really small fluffy baby.

These are our two Salmon Breasted EE's. Their names are Virginia Chance and Joy Hickey. LOL This I don't think is too common of a color. I don't really know chicken colors I know chickens though. AKA the Grady twins.

Those are Red Pyle in color . Dominant white removes black leaving red in males and salmon in female . A uncommon color for EE .

I am new to raising chicks - but I have always loved the beautiful eggs my family's EEs always gave - so I got 3 of my own in addition to 3 other chicks (2 black australorp and 1 golden comet). Here are my three EEs at 1 week old! I am anxiously awaiting their final "look"! :D

Jerry does this mean that if I breed a black copper maran roo with a white leghorn hen I will get something similar to this?
Yes but it takes 2 copies of dominant white for best effect . One copy will have some black specks or spots . . This rooster has 1copy .
This hen has i copy and is based on black .

I'm telling you I can't wait to see their adult colors either, your three look about identical to three of my five ;) isn't this fun?

you know after all my yrs. of having chickens never once have I had one go broody.

My Silkies go broody a couple times a year. I hear bantam Cochins are a broody bunch too. I once had a Buff Leghorn pullet go broody and they aren't supposed to be a broody bunch. Just never know. Silkies are broody little girls - they can't help themselves and they are good foster broodies/mommas - ever seen ducklings following around their foster hatching Silkie momma? Really cute.
