If you got them from tsc, then I wouldn't be so sure. Many times I picked from the "pullet" bin and some ended up being roos. Hope you have some pullets on your hands!

Not from tsc but from a similar store Atwoods. They ship in from ideal. Over month of May every trip for feed/supplies resulted in more chicks. Final number was 25, and 5 ducklings lol. 15 of them were from the pullet bin, and so far all of them are looking pullet except one. So...in hoping I keep those odds here with the 5 that I bought that looked EE-ish. If I get a roo...well he may get to stay. I have one SLW now that rules the roost but planned on keeping another roo or two. So far have two cockerels...and 3 maybes. So may the best cockerel win. The grumpy cockerels will be culled. I'm keeping a sweet one.

I had 4 cockerel, sent two of them to the auction and kept the two HANDSOME EE's for breeding purpose next spring

You should post some pics of the possible cockerels. Maybe able to guess on what they are.

My feather girls as i call them the one on the right is Luta she's the lead of the flock, the black one is Chickoletta, and our red one is Clucky (my daughter named them all) We love our girls 4 1/2 months old

this is Princess ( we hope ) I just want to show her off cause she is a special girl. What makes her so special is she has took to helping and protecting an injured pullet. In the 2nd pic you can see the tail feathers of the injured pullet, Princess is never out of her sight, she will fight ya and the other chickens if she thinks you are going to hurt her friend. She clears the way to the feed dish when her friend is hungry or thirsty. She watches over her friend when they are out wandering around and she GRABS bugs for her friend. NO ONE MESSES WITH HER FRIEND!!!

So I just had to show her off.

Hmm do you know what breed those are? They don't look like EEs since they have yellow legs. I think it is too soon to tell, only thing right now that looks rooish is their thicker legs. Just wait to see if they start developing bigger and redder combs.

I thought I would share pictures of my cuckoo project pullet . Nice slate legs . I have more of these . Maybe I can catch a cockerel tomorrow for pictures .

When will a EE commonly start to lay eggs? Should I be doing anything to help her get started? Like putting her in layer box? I'm so excited to get my first egg! I want her to lay in the coop not in yard . Any tips would be great! How many of you folks have had broody EE's? If it happens, will it be at a young age?

That's a bit like asking what age a girl hits sexual maturity. It happens when it happens, as frustrating as that is. All of my pullets (of different breeds) were late laying (which I'm ok with, since that means they'll probably continue to lay later in life instead of burning out early). As for the nest box, just make one available. I noticed my girls would "practice" by going in and out on their own, no need to force it. Broodiness seems for the most part not to hit EE's too strongly or early, but there's always exceptions to that, especially since people like mixing different breeds in and that can have a strong impact.
